Photo Fight 39 represents two milestones for the series. It’s got the smallest scale figures yet (1/20 for the figure, 1/200 for the mecha), and it’s the first time one of us has had to build a model kit that wasn’t already done when the challenge was issued. The first thing I had to do was grab the Plamax Lynn Minmay kit from my shelf and get to building. After that, my assignment was,

It’s Lynn Minmay’s big moment, right before she irrevocably ruined the direction that nearly every Macross story would take for the foreseeable future by ensuring that milquetoast idol music was the only way that humanity could ever win a fight in space.

The relative humidity out there is like 44% but it feels like twice that when you’re laying in wet grass.

As hard as I tried, I couldn’t quite manage to get this one entirely PG rated, so if you’re over the age of 18 and mature enough to handle partial figure nudity, go ahead and slam that break:

Being the Mizuho fan I am, this figure was a glaring hole in my collection. Fortunately, it was generously given to me by fellow contributor Neil for Christmas, so problem solved.

Max Factory’s 1/7 PVC Mizuho was released in May of 2006 and retailed for ¥6477.

Neil’s challenge to me this week was:

She is in/has been in the kitchen. What’s she been up to?

The answer is the best answer possible: She’s been making a pie.

Jeff gave me four figures for our twentieth Photo Fight and I added a fifth. With Mami, Eren, Armin, Levi and (added by me ’cause she matched), Mikasa, the goal was to:

Pit them against each other in an over-merchandising battle for the ages

Five figures in one photo!

I have to confess that I really don’t know anything about the Momoe Nagisa character from the Madoka movies. I really enjoyed the original Puella Magi Madoka Magika series, and collected all of the Figmas based on that. When Nagisa was announced, I placed an order assuming I’d get around to watching the movies, and then want to have the Figmas from them. That hasn’t happened yet.

Momoe Nagisa was released on 7/19/2014 for ¥4444 (about 43 bucks US).

Neil’s challenge for me this week involved the magnificent Max Factory Belldandy & Holy Bell 1/10. His terms were:

MACRO! Get as close as you can. It’s a big figure, but pick an area with lots of detail and make it shine (figuratively).

Meteorological Summer is knocking on the door, and that means it’s Summer Clearance time. It’s a great time for two things: impulse buys and second chances. I like to think that this falls in the latter category. When this figure was released I slept on it, because I didn’t know anything about the character (and I still basically don’t for that matter). But I’ll admit I’m a big fan of the “naked apron uniform”, so getting the chance to spring for it again was nice.
Max Factory’s Haiyore! Nyaruko-san Nyarlathotep 1/7 released in late October of 2013 for around ¥9333 (about $91.53 USD at the time of this posting). It seems to have bargain binned pretty hard, and I got mine for ¥4180 (~$40.99 USD).
