The Great Cake Heist of 2016

For a myriad of time management and equipment related reasons (Jeff forgot to charge his battery) I was unable to complete this challenge as written – with no working camera I was unable to take a picture of a figure I purchased at Katsucon while I was there. I did manage to include a figure that I bought at Katsucon (The Legacy of Revoltech Lupin re-release on the right) in this photo shoot from home, though, within the month and change that I pissed away doing very little.

Presenting the long-delayed Figure Photo Fight 31! After a hiatus, we’re back at it!  According to this dusty old email I found lying under a couple of spam messages, Jeff challenged me to use my Perfect Grade Strike Gundam for this one. There were some other parameters too…

Neil’s challenge was:

MAGNET FEET! You gotta have the figure sticking to something with the magnet feet. Find something interesting for to stick it to.

At the end of the day I’m not sure I met that challenge entirely as the wire grid I stuck the magnet feet to in order to allow me to display the figure inverted isn’t all that interesting. But I also don’t think anyone expected me to ever finish this shoot, so I’m putting this in the win column.

Aside from those magnet feet, the only other noteworthy thing about this shot is that the Revoltech Danboard’s eyes are the only light source in this shot.

Neil’s challenge to me this week was as follows:

Your figure:
You pick two! You can pick any two /articulated/ figures in your collection.

Your challenge:
You must pose your two articulated figures in such a way that they're interacting with each other.

Easy enough. I can’t think of any two articulated figures in my collection that work better with each other than Yotsuba and Danbo. We’re in the last few days of sweet summer weather where I live, and it’s only fair that these guys get out for one last adventure before the grey days set in.

For this week’s Figure Photo Fight, Jeff assigned me one of my favorite robot figures, the Perfect Piece Tachikima, with the theme of motion, specifically “No rules. You can do it with the camera, the pose, the background, postwork or a combination of them all.” With most of the FIgure Photo Fights I’ve been endeavoring to do as much in camera as possible, so this week it was fun to go crazy with the post work.

The Queens Blade Revoltech series are the figures that got me into collecting in earnest. My first was Erina, purchased on the last day of a convention because I was impressed by the variety of accessories and the articulation at the price. My tastes have changed a lot since then, but it’s still a goal to collect the entire 1P color scheme. Nanael was one that I had on the back burner for a while, but I was recently fortunate enough to come into one, SIB and effectively brand new.

QB004 Nanael is a part of the Kaiyodo Revoltech articulated figure line, Queens Blade series, is 1/12 scale and was released in September of 2009 at ¥2900.
